We are currently in our second year as a "Change School".
The Change Schools programme builds on Creative Partnerships current practice to bring about sustainable change in approaches to teaching and learning. Schools that are funded and recruited to the programme have demonstrated a commitment to putting creativity at the heart of their improvement plans and to educating children and young people for a creative future.
The Change Schools programme focuses on generating long-term dialogue about creative teaching and learning, and how schools can become effective creative learning environments. Change Schools are encouraged to explore in depth how they are developing the conditions where creativity can thrive.
We are a "Change School" funded by the Government through the Creative Partnerships Programme. This means that we have shown our commitment to developing creativity for the children by bidding for additional funding and committing some of the school’s budget to Creative Learning. The programme aims to generate a long-term dialogue across the whole school community about creative teaching and learning and the ways in which our school can become a more effective creative learning environment.
Year 2 are working in the first year of a three year programme. Two professional artists have been working for 40 days between January and May following cross curricular theme of castles. Areas of learning and targets for pupil’s learning have been identified and reflect the wider aims of the school.
Teachers and Children have been developing different skills
They have been learning through creative activities that have included an educational visit to the Tower of London, drawing, painting, puppet making, fabric painting, textiles, story writing, drama and much more !
Parents/Carers have also been invited to creative workshops .We are planning for parents of children in Year 2 to be able to see a showcase of the culmination of all this work on May 22nd. Details will be given at a later date.
